All foreign companies with a branch in the Netherlands must register in the Trade Register. Foreign companies that are not based in the Netherlands have the opportunity to register with the Trade Register if they have business activities in the Netherlands. This also applies to foreign entrepreneurs, who do not operate in the legal form of a company, but for example as a sole proprietorship. Whether you need to register a sole proprietorship depends on whether your company meets the criteria for a company. Most freelancers and self-employed people choose the one-man business or, for example, as a legal form. You must register your one-man business if you meet the criteria for a company. Foreign companies that make labor available in the Netherlands are obliged to register in the Trade Register, regardless of whether or not they have a branch in the Netherlands.
